Private, on-device recognition

Identify a bug bite from a photo online

Upload a clear photo to compare it with common bite patterns. The recognition model runs in your browser, so the image is not uploaded to our servers.

Preparing the recognition model…

Important medical note This experimental image classifier provides educational information, not a diagnosis. Its result can be wrong. Seek urgent medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, faintness, a rapidly spreading rash, severe pain, fever, or other serious symptoms.

How your photo is handled

The page downloads the same TensorFlow Lite model used by the Android app. Recognition and the skin-area check then run locally in your browser. The selected image is not sent to Bugbite Identifier, Firebase, or an external recognition service.

For offline recognition after installation, you can also download the Android app from Google Play.

What the photo comparison can recognize

The model compares the image with patterns associated with mosquito, bed bug, flea, tick, spider, chigger, and ant bites, plus a “no bug bite” outcome. Similar-looking rashes and skin conditions can produce an incorrect result, so appearance alone cannot confirm what caused a reaction.

Use the result as a starting point and review our individual bite guides. Contact a healthcare professional for persistent, worsening, or concerning symptoms.
